G. A. Gorsky's activity at the practical level of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service was connected with supervision and control of radiation safety of the staff of industrial, medical and scientific research facilities, decontamination works at radioactive contamination sites, as well as ensuring radiation safety of population exposed to natural sources of ionizing radiation.

Gorsky G. A. scientifically justified approaches to providing protective measures in case of population exposure to elevated natural radiation levels, tested and introduced at the level of Saint-Petersburg the system of automated control over accidental contamination of drinking water of centralized water supply and the territorial Automated System of Radiation Situation Control (ASKRO SPB). Control over radiation safety indicators of public exposure was introduced into the system of social and hygienic monitoring. From 1998 till 2023 Gorsky G.A. was responsible for annual radiological and hygienic passportization of St. Petersburg.

Since 2003, he has been lecturer at the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great in the field of radiation safety and radiation control, assistant professor at the Department of Hygiene of Education, Training, Labor and Radiation Hygiene at the I.I. Mechnikov Northern State Medical University, Ministry of Health of Russia. Member of Scientific Council, St. Petersburg Research Institute of Radiation Hygiene. He has the highest qualification category of physician in the specialty "Radiation Hygiene", certificates of specialist in radiation hygiene.
