Abstract
The paper presents analysis of radiological survey data in the Far Eastern territories of the Russian Federation performed by experts of Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being (Rospotrebnadzor) Administrations and Federal Health Organizations "Centers of Hygiene and Epidemiology" of the Rospotrebnadzor in cooperation with the Saint-Petersburg Research Institute of Radiation Hygiene, in the time period from March to June 2011. The authors present preliminary assessment for contribution of the fallout carried by air currents from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in contamination of surveyed areas and population exposure doses.

Abstract
In the period from April 22 until May 20, 2011, an expedition aboard the research vessel “Pavel Gordienko” (Russian Federation) was carried out to the Sea of Japan and the Kuril-Kamchatka region of the Pacific Ocean. The main aim of the expedition was to study radioactive contamination of the atmospheric air and sea water after the accident at the NPP “Fukushima-1” in Japan. This paper provides preliminary results on the activity concentration of 137Cs and 134Cs in twenty four samples of sea water. The activity concentrations of 131I, 137Cs, 134Cs, and 7Be for twenty nine samples of atmospheric aerosols, which were sampled during the expedition, are also given. Despite the preliminary character of the results of this study, a generic conclusion on a negligible radiological impact of the anthropogenic gamma-ray-emitting radionuclides for the Far-Eastern sea areas of Russia can be reached. The investigations have been supported by a grant from the Russian Geographical Society.

Abstract
The paper presents analysis of the primary survey data of the radiation situation in the South-Eastern Sakhalin region (Korsakov district and Kunashir and Shikotan islands) and preliminary assessment of the impact of releases from the Fukushima NPP accident in Japan on the radioactive contamination level of the area and the environment. Possible annual internal exposure doses of population of these territories are conservatively assessed on the basiс of the results of radiometric and gamma-spectrometric investigations of local foodstuffs samples.

Abstract
The analysis of informing the public about radiation and radiation risks is made on the basiс of publications on the Fukushima nuclear accident after the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011, by five newspapers and the official internet sites of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being and the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring. The analysis of the data suggests that the population is satisfied with its request in timely, clear, and reliable information on the radiation situation, protective measures and forecast of the situation development in the future. The possibility to learn about different viewpoints positively affects the mood of readers and reduces their anxiety. However, it should be recognized that, if the information have been provided by a single media only, the population would not have adequate understanding of the situation related to the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Abstract
This article examines assessments of the impact of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident on exposure of the Russian Federation population related to the seasonal migration of game birds. Intake of artificial radionuclides with meat of migratory game birds is shown to be one of the major pathways for the population exposure in the Far Eastern region of the country.

Abstract
The present work contents information about the activities of Rospotrebnadzor organizations in Primorsky territory after the accident at the “Fukushima-1” NPP. The data are given on the staff, equipment and methodical providences of Rospotrebnadzor organizations in Primorsky territory to the moment of the accident. Article presents the results of the dose rate measurements in monitoring points and laboratory investigations of the foodstuffs and environmental samples after the accident in Primorsky territory.

Abstract
The article describes the experience of the Administration of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being in Sakhalin Region in organizing prevention of conditions that endanger the public radiation safety related to the nuclear accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The authors present results of the measurements of the radiation situation in the Sakhalin region and propose ways to improve organizational and sanitary-hygienic measures aimed on ensuring public protectiony in events of radiation accidents.

Abstract
The article describes actions of the Administration of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being in KamchatskyKrai and the Federal Health Organization "Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Kamchatsky Krai" to ensure radiation protection of the population in conditions of the radiation accident at Fukushima nuclear power plant and their co-operation with other regional administrations in solution of this problem. The article also presents results of radiation monitoring in the region and shows absence of any significant radiation exposure to the population of the region resulting from the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident.
