Education: The First Leningrad Medical Institute,USSR (1970–1976).

Specialization: pathology (1976–1992), radioecology and radiation protection (since 1986).

Current employment: Leading researcher, Federal Scientific Organization "Saint-Petersburg Institute of Radiation Hygiene after Professor P.V. Ramzaev" of Federal Service for Surviellance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being, St-Petersburg, theRussian Federation.

Research: Field investigations at the sites contaminated as a result of nuclear explosions and accidents (specifically, theChernobyl accident). Participation in the expeditions  to the sites of the accidental peaceful nuclear explosions Kraton-3, Crystall, Taiga and Globus-1. In 2011 and 2012,  participation in expeditions to the North-Western Pacific and the Kuril islands to study the radioactive contamination of the marine and terrestrial environment after theFukushima accident. Laboratory studies of the environmental samples using methods of gamma-ray spectroscopy, radiochemistry, thermoluminiscence and optico-stimulated dosimetry. Evaluation of the current and cumulated doses to the population at the areas contaminated by the man-made radionuclides. Elaboration of national safety standards and norms as well as recommendations on management of the radioactivelly contaminated territories.

Other activities: a member of the Scientific Board of the journal “Radiation Hygiene”; a reviewer in the journal “Radiation Hygiene” and the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity.
