Abstract

Republiccontaminated settlements had been developed. The results of the Whole Body measurements had been used as the basis for the model developing. The model for dose estimation is based on the classification of the settlements according to regional characteristics of soils, which cause 137Cs intake with locally produced foodstuff. The model is also based on regression of internal exposure dose on the soil surface activity for each region. The influence of the indirect factors on the dose forming had been taken into account: the number of inhabitants and the area of forest around the settlement. According  to  the  developed  method,  Catalog  of  Average  Annual  Effective  Doses  for  Residents  of  the Belarus Republic had been created.

Abstract

An article considers the issues connected with radon-protective characteristics of facing products and materials. Experimental estimations are obtained of the radon diffusion factor for ceramic and stoneware facing products and for the number of rolled gas- and waterproof materials with the use of developed original methodic of radon diffusion factor estimation in the porous medium. It is shown that the use of these products and materials in the process of modern buildings construction could give considerable effect of the radon inflow reducing into indoor air from the block of enclosing constructions.

Abstract

During the years passed after the Chernobyl accident we are carrying out monitoring of the radiation situation in the Sough-Western territories of the Bryansk region, contaminated with the long-living radionuclides which includes 137Сs concentration measurements in agricultural and natural foodstuffs, surveys of local populations on the structure and composition of the diet accompanied with 137Сs content measurements in the human body. In the article the obtained data is systematized on the food rations of the adult population of theBryansk region, on food rations dynamics in the first and following years after the accident, which is necessary for the correct estimation of internal exposure doses of the population living on the contaminated territories.

Abstract

Were carried out the selective investigation of the adult patients exposure levels during radiological diagnostic  procedures  with  the  use  of  17  CT  scanners  in  15  medical  organizations  of  Saint-Petersburg  and Leningrad region in 2009–2012. We collected the data on technical parameters of the X-ray computed tomography examinations affecting the level of patient exposure. The effective doses were calculated for scanning of different areas of the patient's body (skull, thorax, abdomen and pelvis). Their mean values were in the range from 0,2 mSv to 31 mSv per examination. The highest doses were observed during the investigation of the abdomen and pelvis. Preliminary values of diagnostic reference levels are proposed for medical organizations of Saint-Petersburg andLeningrad region on the basis of investigation results. These values are defined as the 75% quantile in the distribution  of  dose  length  product  values.  Diagnostic  reference  levels  values  obtained  in  the  investigation  are comparable with the corresponding values currently accepted in the foreign medical practice.

Abstract

The  work  provides  comparative  assessment  of  the  levels  of  occupational  exposure  of  Saint-Petersburg health institutions staff. The analysis was carried out of the 891 individual doses measurement results which have  being  obtained  during  5  years  investigations  (2009-2013).  The  comparing  of  the  average  annual effective doses was carried out for 4 groups of medical specialists: x-ray laboratory assistant, radiotherapist, radiographer of dental clinics and X-ray surgery staff (surgeons, anesthesiologists and surgical nurses) who are working close to irradiation source). It is shown that the annual effective dose average value is about 0.5 mSv for the first three groups of medical specialists. The same value for X-ray surgery staff is 1.6 mSv. Individual  annual  exposure  doses  have  not  exceeded  the  main  dose  limits  required  by  Radiation  Safety Standard 99/2009. The issues are considered of the estimation exactness of the effective dose basing on the results of individual dose equivalent measurement.

Abstract

The article describes the automated system of radiation exposure control (ASCRE) for Rospotrebnadzor developed  in  the  framework  of  the  Federal  target  program  "Nuclear  and  Radiation  Safety  in  2008  and  for  the period till 2015". The history of the development of this system is given. It is shown the diagram of the functioning of ASCRE, description of the individual blocks of diagram is given. It is shown that the grpouping of the data from various Federal banks in the single automated information-analytical system on the general address basis with the wide possibilities of analytical tools application will greatly expand the range of the issues for the assessment of radiation impact on the population than in the existing systems. The use of automation resources will reduce the time for obtaining the necessary information and, ultimately, will increase the effectiveness of the decision making in the field of radiation protection.
